Breaking Down Barriers to Women's Healthcare in Rural Western North Carolina

At Blue Ridge Health, we know that there are several unique barriers that may keep women from seeking necessary healthcare: a lack of services, issues with transportation, the cost of childcare. That’s why we are proud to offer a wide array of women’s healthcare services in clinics across the state.

Our providers can help with birth control, family planning, breast and cervical cancer screenings, common gynecological issues like painful periods, and more. Our Patient Navigators help patients apply for Family Planning Medicaid, Pregnancy Medicaid, and direct patients to other available resources.

As always, Blue Ridge Health strives to break down barriers to care in Western North Carolina.

Project CARA

Project CARA: Care that Advocates Respect, Resiliency, and Recovery for All

Blue Ridge Health partners with MAHEC in Asheville to provide a safe space for women who are pregnant and/or parenting while managing substance use issues. Our goal is to break down the barriers of shame and fear that often keep women from admitting they need help. We empower those who are pregnant and/or parenting to come forward and receive the care they require to help create a healthier tomorrow for themselves and their families.

Children are welcome at group, and our clinics offer comprehensive care for the whole family, including well-child exams, medical, dental, and behavioral health services – everything you need under one roof!

Blue Ridge Health currently operates Project CARA at three sites: Blue Ridge Health – Polk, Blue Ridge Health – Chimney Rock Road, and Blue Ridge Health – Haywood.
