Blue Ridge Health (BRH) has an expanded network of virtual care opportunities available for all insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid, as well as the uninsured. Like all BRH practices, services are universally accessible and available on a sliding fee based on income and household size. Patients with insurance deductibles over $1000 can qualify for sliding fee discounts as well. Accessing care from the comfort of home is especially important given the spread of COVID-19, but the trend toward virtual care is something BRH has been preparing for over the years.
Accessing care is easier than you might think. Simply register as a patient if not already registered and set up an appointment over the phone, then an email will be sent providing simple instructions and a link. Click the link at your appointment time and your doctor will appear on your screen.
A virtual visit takes place via video or phone using a smartphone, tablet or computer. Once the visit is finished, notes and referrals are provided for the patient similar to an in-person appointment. If needed, prescriptions are electronically routed to a BRH or other preferred pharmacy. In some cases, BRH pharmacies are even able to deliver.
“Blue Ridge Health virtual care places our providers at patients’ fingertips using the technology of everyday life,” said Tammy Greenwell, Chief Operating Officer for BRH. “Most importantly, it strengthens our commitment to provide access to high-quality care in ways we know our patients want it most – convenient and cost-effective.”
As patients today try to keep a safe social distance, a virtual care program is a great way to stay on top of your health while avoiding public places. Patients should practice safe social distancing, but not at the expense of their health, so patients are encouraged to schedule a virtual care visit to stay on top of routine care.
“We’re finding that the outbreak of COVID-19 has accelerated the move toward virtual care. The transition has been happening for years, especially as our younger patients have correctly sought improved convenience and affordability,” said Dr. Richard Hudspeth, Chief Executive Officer for Blue Ridge Health. “Everyone in Western North Carolina can take advantage of these services during these cautious times. We want patients to be careful, but we certainly do not want patients to neglect their health in an effort to stay home. With virtual care, we can provide the care you need from the comfort of your home!”
Patients concerned they may been exposed to COVID-19, or those experiencing fever, cough or shortness of breath are encouraged to access virtual services as well.
