Lake Lure Family Practice Joins Blue Ridge Health

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (January 2, 2018) – As of January 1, 2019, the family practice formerly operated by MAHEC in Lake Lure, NC became a Blue Ridge Health (BRH) practice, The move comes as a result of a collaborative effort to strengthen access to comprehensive, high quality healthcare for all residents of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and the surrounding areas.  As one of the only primary care medical homes in Lake Lure and the surrounding area, bringing this practice on board demonstrates BRH’s continued effort to make quality primary care as accessible as possible for WNC residents.

“The practice in Lake Lure has been providing high quality care for years and through this change the level of care patients have come to expect will not change. However, the practice will now be more accessible and affordable for those who need it most,” said Dr. Richard Hudspeth, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer for BRH. With a practice already operating in Rutherford County, as well as several in neighboring Henderson, Polk and Buncombe Counties, BRH – Lake Lure represents the 18th practice operated by BRH across a seven county area.

The new BRH practice will provide primary care services under a universal, patient-centered model of care. Patients will now have access to primary care, behavioral health, medication delivery, nutrition and more. The new BRH location will still accept all insurance plans, including private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. But, like all BRH practices, patients with high deductible plans or no insurance can pay on a sliding scale based on family size and income. And, like all community health center locations nationwide, Medicare deductibles are waived.

BRH – Lake Lure is located at 146 Nesbitt Ridge, off Highway 9, near Ingles in Lake Lure. They are open Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm and while appointments are encouraged, walk-ins are welcome. For more information or to make an appointment, call 828.625.4400.

  • Please bring a mask or cloth face covering with you to your visit, if possible. 

  • When you arrive at the practice, look for a member of our staff to provide site-specific instructions.

  • If you do not see a staff member, call the practice and instructions will be provided.

If you suspect that you have been exposed to Coronavirus, or you have a fever, cough or shortness of breath, please contact your local Blue Ridge Health office prior to visiting. They are happy to help and will provide further instructions.
